What is Lightning?

The Lightning Network is a "layer-2" payment protocol built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, designed to facilitate faster and cheaper Bitcoin transactions. Can I use Valet without an internet connection?

No, you cannot use Valet without an internet connection. However, Valet was purposely designed to use minimal internet connection, making it suitable for users in remote areas with low internet bandwidth and latency.

Can I restore my wallet on another phone?

Yes — with your 12-word recovery phrase, you can restore your wallet on any other device, including desktop wallets that support mnemonic key wallets

What happens if I uninstall Valet?

Your wallet is safe as long as you copied down your 12-word recovery phrase and kept it safe. Channel backups should also be stored so that you can recover your Lightning channels. Learn more

What are Fiat Channels?

Fiat channels are hosted channels modified to support a constant nominal value in fiat currency while being programmatically backed by a corresponding amount of Sats. The advantage is that payments from/to fiat channels will be transferred on top of the Lightning Network's original nodes without any limitations. This enables users to split the experience between fiat<–>Bitcoin while maintaining 100% compatibility with Lightning Network specifications.
